LSU is two wins away from another appearance in the Women’s College World Series, but it won't be an easy task.
The Tigers (44-15) face the No. 6 seeded Florida State Seminoles in the Tallahassee Super Regional beginning Friday night at 6 p.m.
The Seminoles (50-10) won their sixth ACC Championship this season and advanced to the Super Regional after sweeping past Jacksonville State and Auburn in the Tallahassee Regional.
The Noles beat Jacksonville State, 8-0 in five innings, Auburn 2-1 in eight innings and Jacksonville State again in the regional championship, 10-0.
FSU is averaging .294 as a team from the plate and is scoring six runs per game.
The offense is led by Jessie Warren, Sydney Sherrill, and Carsyn Gordon.
Warren, named the ACC Player of the Year, is hitting .395 with 12 doubles, one triple, 16 home runs and 58 RBI.
Sherrill has a .392 batting average and has 26 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs and 51 RBI. She was named the ACC Freshman of the Year.
Gordon is hitting .337 from the plate with 11 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs and 47 RBI.
The pitching staff, led by Kylee Hanson, Meghan King, and Cassidy Davis, has a 1.40 ERA this season.
Opponents are batting only .168 against the talented group.
Hanson, the ACC's Pitcher of the Year, is 27-4 with a 1.00 ERA, two saves and 226 strike outs in 182.0 innings pitched.
King is 21-6 with a 1.24 ERA, two saves and 146 strike outs in 155.2 innings pitched.
Davis has made 20 appearances out the bullpen. She is 0-0 with a 1.69 ERA this season.
