Memorial service honors fallen BRPD officers

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Hundreds gathered in front of the Baton Rouge Police Department Headquarters to honor the lives of fallen officers Friday morning.

The Fraternal Order of Police and the Baton Rouge Lodge No. 1 hosted the "Peace Officer's Memorial Service."

Its purpose is to remember the life of each fallen officer who died while serving in the line of duty.

The most recent officer added to the list is Chris Lawton, a reserve Zachary police officer and deputy fire chief.

"Nothing is worse than being able to look at a flag being placed over the coffin of one of our loved ones that have lost their lives in the line of duty," said Constable Reginald Brown.

White roses were handed out to each fallen officer's family members.
