BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Regional, which includes LSU, Louisiana-Lafayette, Houston, and Fordham, begins this weekend at Tiger Park.
The Houston Cougars earned the regional's No. 3 seed.
Houston is 36-20 overall this season and finished with a 13-8 record in the American Athletic Conference.
The Cougars finished second in the conference, one game behind South Florida, and lost to Tulsa in the semifinals of the AAC Championship.

Houston is batting .281 as a team and is averaging 4.5 runs per game.
The hitting attack is led by Sarah Queen, Arielle James, and Maya Thomas.
Queen is batting .366, with 10 doubles, 10 home runs and 37 RBI.
James has a .363 average, 23 doubles, three home runs and 27 RBI.
Thomas hits .324 from the plate and is third on the team with 56 base hits.
The Cougar pitching staff, led by Savannah Heebner, Presley Bell and Trystan Melancon, has a 1.88 ERA and opponents are hitting only .222 against the trio.
Heebner is UH's ace on the mound. She has a 25-9 record, and a 1.17 ERA in 40 appearances (30 starts) this year.
Bell is 5-3, with a 2.19 ERA in 19 appearances (8 starts).
Melancon is 6-8, with a 3.17 ERA in 21 appearances (18 starts).
(3) Houston and (2) Louisiana-Lafayette start the regional Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.
(1) LSU and (4) Fordham will play game two Friday night at 5:30 p.m.
