BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Matt Houston, a recent graduate of LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication, has joined the WAFB 9News team as a legislative correspondent.
While at LSU, Houston covered the state legislature as member of the Manship News Service. During that time, his work was featured in USA Today, The Shreveport Times, and on various Louisiana television stations.
Houston, a native of Texas, also hosted a weekly football tailgate show while at LSU and served as assistant news director at Tiger TV.
"Matt came highly recommended from several professors at LSU and impressed us from the moment we met him," said WAFB news director, Robb Hays. "Matt already has a broad knowledge of the inner workings of the state legislature and we're excited to have him join our team."
Houston replaces reporter Kevin Frey, who recently left WAFB to cover the United States Congress for Spectrum cable. Frey is now based in that company's Washington, D.C. news bureau.
