CLINTON, LA (WAFB) -

It's been 17 years since a little boy disappeared from his mother's porch in Clinton. There's been no sign of Wesley Dale Morgan since May 15, 2001.

On Tuesday night, 17 butterflies were released in honor of Morgan. He was 2-years-old when he vanished. The day he went missing, his mother told police she went inside around 9:45 a.m. to prepare some food and returned to find her son gone.

The FBI reopened the case in 2016, but there are still no leads.

Morgan's family did not participate in the night's event at the Clinton courthouse. A retired police officer has taken it upon himself to keep the case in the public eye.

"What keeps me going is because I know someone knows (something), several people, and I'm hopeful that one day their conscience may get the best of them and they'll come forward or either submit some information anonymously," said Richard Sobers.

Wesley Dale Morgan would be 19-years-old today. The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to his location. Call the FBI at (225) 291-5159 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP (7867).
