OUR TURN: Accountability

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - There's all the talk about "fake news" these days, and media bias ... WAFB is one of many stations owned by Raycom Media, a company that has a proud tradition of serving our viewers uniquely in the places they live.

Just so you know, the messages you see in these Our Turn segments are not corporate controlled or dictated. They come from a group of WAFB employees. On the news side, The "media" is sometimes lumped into one big category ... but there almost always is a clear distinction between the national media and the local media.

Our journalists live here and specialize in telling your stories. And giving you the facts needed to make up your own mind about what's happening in our part of the world. While this is the editorial side of WAFB, it's important to point out that the news department operates independently. There are decades of experience working to make sure that happens consistently on every story - big and small.

Like most television stations, we have an affiliation with a network - but that relationship only means we carry their programming. We are an affiliate of CBS but are not owned by them. We have nothing to do with their content decisions and likewise, they have zero input into our news-making decisions.

Just know this - we are grateful for the trust you place in your talented and experienced team of journalists here at WAFB. We are accountable to you.

That's "Our Turn." Now, it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, send an email to yourturn@wafb.com.
