WALKER, LA (WAFB) - Two people died in a head-on crash in Livingston Parish early Thursday morning, according to Louisiana State Police.

The wreck happened on LA 447 (Walker South Road) north of LA 16 in Livingston Parish around 7 a.m. on Thursday, May 10. The crash claimed the lives of Harlan Hill, 29, of Denham Springs, and Mark Stephens, 40, of Zachary.

LSP officials say the wreck happened as Hill was driving north on LA 447 in a 1992 Chevy Silverado, when at the same time, Earl Ray, 58, of Denham Springs, was driving south on the same road in a 2007 Dodge Ram. For reasons still under investigation, Hill crossed the center line and hit Ray's truck head-on in the southbound lane.

Hill was properly restrained and died as a result of the wreck. Stephens was not wearing his seat belt was also killed. Ray was wearing his seat belt and sustained minor injuries. It's suspected Hill was impaired at the time of the wreck. A toxicology sample was taken from both drivers for analysis.
