Michaela Schlattman hit a 2nd inning grand slam home run and senior Allie Walljasper held the Rebels to six hits and just one run as 5th-seed LSU eliminated 12-seed Ole Miss from the SEC Tournament on Wednesday 4-1.
Walljasper won the pitching dual with Rebels' ace Kaitlin Lee, who was matched with the LSU senior in a record-setting 19-inning marathon during the regular season at Tiger Park. Walljasper struck out five without allowing a walk for the complete game.
LSU (41-13) also had six hits, but bunched three of them in the 2nd inning. Amanda Doyle and Amber Serrett sandwiched singles around an Ole Miss error to load the bases with one out for Schlattman, who connected for her fourth homer in her last six games. Ole Miss (30-23) won last year's SEC Tournament title over the Tigers, who are bidding to make their 4th straight trip to the WCWS when NCAA Tournament play starts next week.
LSU faces 4th seed Tennessee on Thursday at 4 p.m.
