WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Two separate traffic stops on I-10 in West Baton Rouge Parish resulted in two arrests and the seizure of nearly four pounds of cocaine, according to authorities.
Louisiana State Police reported Gregory Waddle, 48, of Columbus, TX, was arrested on May 2 and Andre Zeno, 51, of Baker, was arrested on May 6.
Troopers said a 2017 Nissan Titan driven by Waddle was pulled over I-10 West past LA 415 (Lobdell Highway). They added a search of the truck after receiving consent turned up a little more than a pound of cocaine (472 grams) and nearly $33,000 in cash.
According to investigators, the drugs and money were in wrapped presents and gift bags.
Waddle was booked on charges of manufacture/distribution of Schedule II narcotics, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, and improper lane usage.
LSP reported a 2018 Chevrolet pickup driven by Zeno was stopped on I-10 East before LA 415 (Lobdell Highway). Officials said K9 "Sergej" detected narcotics in the truck and when it was searched, about 2.7 pounds of cocaine was found.
Zeno was booked on charges of manufacture/distribution of Schedule II narcotics, improper lane usage, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
