BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Emergency crews responded to a deadly crash involving a Baton Rouge Police Department unit and a truck Tuesday morning.

The wreck happened on Plank Road at Blount Road around 9 a.m. The wreck claimed the life of John Brady, 63, of Alexandria.

The initial investigation by Louisiana State Police shows the wreck happened as Brady was driving eastbound on Blount Road in a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck, when at the same time, Ronald Norman Jr., 34, of Zachary, was driving southbound on Plank Road in an unmarked BRPD 2013 Dodge Charger. For reasons still unclear, Brady pulled into the path of Norman's unit and was hit in the southbound lanes of Plank Road.

Officials with LSP say Brady was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from his truck. He was transported to a local hospital, we he later died. Norman was also not wearing his seat belt and sustained moderate injuries. He was also transported to a local hospital.

Impairment is not suspected as a factor in this wreck, but a toxicology sample was taken from both drivers for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
