GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - One driver was killed and two people in the other vehicle were seriously injured in a head-on collision near Gonzales late Sunday night.
Louisiana State Police reported Henry Boudreaux, 56, of Gramercy, died in the crash.
Troopers said it happened on LA 44 near LA 941 (Brittany Tower Road) a little after 11 p.m.
Sr. Tpr. Bryan Lee said the investigation up to this point shows Boudreaux was driving north on LA 44 in a 2004 Toyota Tacoma when his truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Jantzen Carter, 29, of White Castle.
Lee noted investigators have not yet determined what caused Boudreaux's truck to cross the center line.
According to Lee, the impact of the crash caused Boudreaux to get ejected from the truck. Lee added Boudreaux was not wearing a seat belt. Carter and his passenger were also not buckled up, Lee reported. The passenger's name was not released.
Blood samples were taken from both drivers and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis to determine if impairment was a factor in the crash, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
