GREENSBERG, LA (WAFB) - A woman was killed in single-vehicle crash in St. Helena Parish on Saturday.
Louisiana State Police identified the victim as Sylvia Wright, 60, of Greensburg.
Troopers reported the crash happened on LA 43 near Brecheen Lane in Greensburg around 5 p.m.
Sr. Tpr. Dustin Dwight with LSP said the investigation up to this point shows Wright was driving northwest on LA 43 in a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe when she went off the road in a curve, then overcorrected left and right.
He added the SUV went off the road, spun around, and flipped several times. According to Dwight, it stopped upside down after hitting a tree. He noted investigators have not yet determined what cause the vehicle to initially go off the road in the curve.
Troopers said Wright was wearing her seatbelt but suffered severe injuries in the crash. She was flown to Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge by Acadian Air Med in critical condition. She was later pronounced dead due to her injuries, officials said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
