Amanda Doyle lined a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the seventh to break a 1-1 tie and give 13th-ranked LSU Softball a 2-1 walk-off win Friday night over No. 16 Arkansas at Tiger Park.
Senior pitcher, Allie Walljasper, started senior weekend by picking up the complete game victory in the circle, firing a 5-hitter, allowing just a 5th inning solo homer to Hannah McEwen that tied the game. LSU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st with an RBI double from senior Emily Griggs, who was 2-3 on the night.
Doyle led LSU (38-13, 11-10) with a 3-4 night, as the Tigers totaled ten hits. Arkansas (37-12, 12-10) loaded the bases in the 2nd inning, but Walljasper retired McEwen on a fielder's choice grounder to get out of the jam and went on to pick up her 14th win of the season. Game 2 of the series starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 5.
