BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Southern University has announced who will step in as the interim band director after the previous one, Nathan Haymer, was fired.
President-Chancellor Ray L. Belton announced Friday that Kedric Taylor, associate director of bands, will take over as interim director. Lawrence Jackson, a former director of bands, will serve as a consultant for the department about band operations.
Taylor, a Southern alumnus and native of Mobile, Alabama, played in the Human Jukebox for four years when he was a student. He's been working with the band since 2014.
Taylor also served head director for Baker High School's band and also taught in Jackson, Louisiana. As associate director, Taylor handled music arrangement, band rehearsals, and directed the saxophone and wind ensemble sections.
