BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Last week, a House education committee approved House Bill 842, which would require daily recess for public school students in grades K through 8.

If the bill passes, it would be an addition to the current law requiring public schools to allocate 30 minutes for physical activities, which include P.E. classes.

The proposed law would additionally require each school to provide at least 30 minutes of recess each day.

This week's YOUR TURN goes to Jenny McCormick Dedon.

Dedon writes:

Now You will see a difference in behavior issues, for the better. Kids need a break to release some of their energy. I'm 59 and we had morning and afternoon recess.

The bill now awaits debate on the House floor Monday.
