BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - On Friday, May 4, the City of Baton Rouge held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new City Hall Plaza. The plan is for the new space to act as a connection point between the Raising Cane's River Center and the rest of downtown.
"It's an area designed for both active and passive recreation. We're going to have the Live after 5 concert here. The dance floor is twice as big, the green space is twice as big," said Davis Rhorer, executive director of the Downtown Development District.
The project was the third component of the Central Green, a concept of the community-driven Plan Baton Rouge II Master Plan.
Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome joined representatives from the design and construction teams to talk about the project.
