BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A CBS News investigation that aired here on WAFB Monday evening shined a light on the battles so many of you are still fighting after the 2016 flood. Richard and Linda Brown lost everything, but at least they had flood insurance to cover the damage ... or so they thought.
The Browns held a $168,000 flood insurance policy, but nearly two years later, they have only received $62,000 … far short of what they and their children need to repair their home, which remains gutted today.
"The kids have to live like this," said Linda Brown. "They can't have friends come over. We can't have family come over because we're living like this. And it's hard."
The Browns are now headed to court to fight the federally-backed National Flood Insurance Program.
The National Flood Insurance Program is just the latest example of flood recovery money that's been promised but not delivered. We stand behind the Browns and all of you going through similar struggles, as you fight to get what is rightfully yours.
