ST. CHARLES PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A Thibodaux man wanted on rape charges who fled into a swamp Friday to evade capture from authorities was captured Sunday in St. Charles Parish, according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Leland Falcon says deputies attempted to arrest Trey Rentrop, 28, on a warrant for third-degree rape on April 27. Rentrop fled into a swampy area of Bayou L'Ourse as authorities converged on his location.
Deputies eventually tracked Rentrop to a motel in St. Charles Parish. Rentrop and three other individuals were arrested at the hotel and booked into the St. Charles Parish jail on April 29.
Rentrop will be transported to Assumption Parish to face charges of third-degree rape and charges relating to his flight to evade arrest.
