BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - One person was taken to the hospital after a house caught fire early Sunday morning.
Investigators with the Baton Rouge Fire Department said the fire was caused by an electrical short in a bathroom.
Curt Monte with BRFD said firefighters were called out to a home on Catherine Street near Blount Road around 2:15 a.m.
He added the flames had spread to a bedroom when firemen arrived at the house, but they were quickly put out.
According to Monte, one of the three people inside at the time of the fire was injured while trying to escape and was taken to the hospital by EMS.
The extent of those injuries was not released.
Red Cross was called out to help the family.
