BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Debate at the capitol on a proposal dealing with the Baton Rouge Police Department was over before it began.
Representative C. Denise Marcelle has proposed creating a task force to review policies within BRPD. However, she scrapped her proposal, saying Chief Murphy Paul asked for more time to discuss the idea with her. But she hasn't dropped the idea altogether.
"I do want to, however, give the public some transparency in what's happening in the department. And I think that's really my goal to make sure that we strengthen those relationships with the police department and make sure everyone's on the same page," said Marcelle.
Representative Marcelle says the task force would be made up of community members, as well as some lawmakers.
