There are also items on the ballot about taxes that would allow the St. George Fire Department to move forward with various construction projects.

The ad valorem tax would be a .87 mills tax on the dollar for properties with the city limits of Baton Rouge. The tax would be collected for ten years, starting in 2018.

One of the tax renewals for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System would fund repairs and renovations and would also aid in the improvement of technology and construction of new classrooms.

Another tax renewal would assist EBRPSS in improving the educational environment by improving discipline, providing alternative education, and reducing truancy in parish schools.

And the third proposal on the ballot that would benefit EBRPSS is a tax renewal that would increase pay for teachers and other school system employees in the parish.

There are many other items on the ballot as well for residents in St. Helena, Livingston, and Ibervilla parishes.
