Crawfish bandits accused of sneaking onto farms at night

LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) - One man has been arrested and two people are wanted for allegedly stealing crawfish from farms in the Lafayette area.

According to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, the trio were caught red-handed during a traffic stop.

Deputies recovered about 165 pounds of crawfish, which is worth roughly $756.67. Officials did not clarify where the crawfish were located when they were recovered.

They did note they do not believe this to be the first theft. Rather, they think the suspected crooks had been sneaking onto area farms nightly. In fact, deputies have increased patrols in the area due to the thefts.

Allan Turner, 46, of Duson, was arrested at the time of the traffic stop. Along with felony theft, he's facing additional traffic charges.

Warrants have been issued for the arrests of Christopher Prejean, 40, and Haley Briscoe, 32, both of Carencro.

If you know anything regarding the whereabouts of Prejean and Briscoe, call Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-8477.
