BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The man charged with murder in the beating death of an 11-month-old girl pleaded guilty to cruelty charges Friday, court officials said.

District Attorney Hillar Moore said Larry Leflore, 30, of Baton Rouge, pleaded guilty to cruelty to a juvenile and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Leflore was initially charged with first-degree murder in the 2013 death of 11-month-old Aaliyah Heard.

The baby's mother, Ashley Heard, 33, was convicted of second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to a juvenile in 2015 and sentenced to life in prison.

During Heard's trial, graphic autopsy photos of Aaliyah showed deep bruising to the child's face and a large burn mark on her leg. The burn mark was a big as a golf ball and the child also had broken bones.

The child's cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
