Engineers find additional problems at new library under construction

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The mayor's office said the architecture company constructing a new library in downtown Baton Rouge has completed the initial repairs on two steel beams, but additional problems have been found.

Officials said the issues are related to the two steel beams that were repaired.

They added additional repairs will be needed on these "compromised areas," meaning the building and eastbound lane of North Boulevard will remain closed until further notice.

According to officials, a full structural report containing additional details on the issue is still expected at the end of next week.
