BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana lawmakers want to punish people who drive too fast through floodwaters, pushing water into homes and vehicles.
It happened lots of times during the historic flood in August 2016.
Under a bill by Sen. Dan Claitor, R-Baton Rouge, anyone caught driving recklessly in floodwaters could be ticketed for careless operation.
The Senate unanimously approved the measure Wednesday.
The House received and read the measure Thursday, but has not yet taken action.
