BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police have arrested a driver found to have drugs in his system at the time of a crash on New Year's Day that killed a young family of three after receiving a Crime Stoppers tip.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Marlon Rogers, 47, of Baker, is facing charges in connection with a crash that resulted in the deaths of Randell Williams Sr., 23, Kalandria Williams, 21, and 4-month-old Randell Williams Jr., all of Baton Rouge.
Police said the toxicology analysis found Rogers had cocaine in his system. He is charged with vehicular homicide (3 counts), operating a vehicle while intoxicated, first-degree vehicular negligent injuring, speeding, and red light.
Investigators added Rogers was arrested at his home by deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office after police received a tip from Crime Stoppers.
The wreck happened on Scenic Highway near Blount Road around 6:15 p.m. on Jan. 1, 2018.
Reports state the baby boy was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died the next day. His mother and father were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said a passenger in the car with Rogers survived the moderate to severe injuries she suffered in the crash.
