(WAFB) - There's nothing worse than needing to use your phone and having no service... especially if it's a situation involving the safety of you and your family.
Of course, there are numerous dead zones throughout the country, and it turns out many of those areas also have the highest crime rates.
Analysts at USDish.com have compiled a list of the top ten states with large cell service dead zones and cross referenced crime rates.
The full report can be viewed here.
The top ten deadliest states to lose cell service in are:
- South Carolina
- New Mexico
Louisiana has a respectable cell coverage score of 8.5, but almost a third (29 percent) of the population goes without home internet access. Louisiana also has the lowest property crime index on this list (41 against the 38.1 national average), but violent crime is a different story. The state has a violent crime index of 47 against the 31.1 national average and the highest murder rate on this list: 12.8 against the national average of 5.3.
