"We are pleased to be recognized as one of the best values in the country by Forbes. This ranking looks at what truly matters to parents and students: outcomes. Universities should be measured by the ways they impact families: student debt, starting salaries, graduation rates, and financial aid support. These are the areas important to students when making a college choice, and at LSU, these are the areas we focus on to make sure students obtain an affordable and competitive college degree," said President F. King Alexander.
For this ranking, Forbes scored schools on net price, net debt, alumni earnings, timely graduation, school quality, and access for low-income students. The ranking does not include private schools.
Forbes uses Payscale and the College Scoreboard, which show direct results and return on investment for students attending a university. According to Payscale, a student who gets a bachelor's degree at LSU has an early earning of $51,800 per year, and a mid-career earning of $98,800, the highest among all public universities in Louisiana.
