NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

St. Charles is decorated with ladders, Mardi Gras trees are in bloom, and every piece of prime real estate is claimed on the sixth consecutive day of parades.

People are out Monday enjoying the chilly air ahead of Proteus and Orpheus.

Tents, chairs, ladders, and awnings are set as people prepare to spend the next two days on the route.

Revelers aren't just ready for Lundi Gras, but Zulu and Rex too.

Arthur Gillum has been on the route for more than 24 hours.

"We just enjoy it, it is a time to come together and enjoy each other," Gillum said. "Carnival is all about kids, family and everybody in the city coming together to have a good time.

Gillum said his family from Chicago even came down to join the festivities.

They plan on making ribs, chicken, hamburgers, red beans and rice, and crawfish.
