The Pelicans traded for Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic to help lessen the blow of the Boogie Cousins injury. The Pelicans will give up guards Jameer Nelson and Tony Allen, Omer Asik, and a 2018 first-round pick with "minimal" protections. The Pels will also receive a 2018 2nd-round pick from the Bulls

Mirotic signed a two-year deal with the Bulls in August.  New Orleans could pick up Mirotic's $12.5 million team option for the 2018-19 season.

Mirotic is averaging 16 points a game with the Bulls. Mirotic will wear #3 for the Pelicans.
