DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard personally thanked Bass Pro Shop and its employees for their assistance to Denham Springs and Livingston Parish following last year's devastating floods during a special presentation Thursday morning.
"Y'all were so good to us," Ard said speaking to a crowd of Bass Pro Shop employees and first responders. "(they) Gave us these boats, no questions asked."
Ard explained in the immediate aftermath of the August 2016 flood, his office went to the outdoors store twice to get boats to assist in the recovery efforts.
Three of the store's boats were lost during the rescue efforts. Ard said the sheriff's office returned all of the borrowed boats back to the store and most were in rough shape but Bass Pro Shop did not ask for any money in return.
The sheriff presented the store's manager with a letter to the owner of the Bass Pro Shop as well as an honorary plaque from the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office.
Ard said he views the employees of Bass Pro Shop as members of the LPSO family.
Denham Springs and western Livingston Parish was one of the hardest hit areas during the flood of August 2016.
