ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

Autopsy results are expected Tuesday for the man who was shot to death during an encounter with St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputies over the weekend, according to a report from our partners Nola.com | The Times-Picayune.

Sheriff Randy Smith said in the report that he would release more information about the case after the autopsy results were in and his office completed interviews with three deputies involved in the incident.

Smith said in the report that he did not know how many of the deputies fired their weapons.

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched to a home in the 37200 block of Hollifield Lane just after 10 p.m. Saturday.

Eddy Longoria, 55, of Dallas, was fatally wounded in front of the home in the Hickory community after holding a woman hostage, according to Smith.

According to the deputies, Longoria exited the home with the gun and pointed it at them. The deputies opened fire, killing him.

There were no other injuries reported in the incident.

The Sheriff’s Office says the deputies that were involved in the shooting have been placed on temporary leave pending an investigation. This is standard protocol in officer-involved shootings.

Smith told Nola.com | The Times-Picayune that there was no body-camera or patrol car video of the incident.
