Bayou Road Balloon Festival kicks off in Chalmette

ST. BERNARD PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

The Bayou Road Balloon Festival is kicking off in Chalmette during this Veterans Day weekend. 

The event will be start Friday at 4 p.m. in the oaks of Sidney D. Torres Memorial Park. 

The festival will feature 15 hot air balloons that will create a “night glow” each evening at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., according to the event's website. 

The stage and festival grounds will be feature area musicians and artists showcasing the communities of St. Bernard Parish. 

The St. Bernard Veterans Day parade will also be held in conjunction with the festival, according to the event's website. 

Other features include tethered balloon rides, carnival rides, a midway, and food and beer booths.

    A woman has died after a fire at a self storage building in Baton Rouge early Wednesday morning. The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal reported Thursday morning that the victim's organs were harvested for donation.
