(RADICAL MEDIA/CNN) - Lin-Manuel Miranda is returning to the stage for a special, three-week run of hit Broadway show 'Hamilton.'

The show will be at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan for a three-week run on Jan. 8 in 2019.

Miranda's family is from Puerto Rico, and it will be the first time reprising the role of Hamilton since he left the show in July 2016.

Miranda said bringing the musical to Puerto Rico has always been a dream of his, but Hurricane Maria's devastation brought a sense of urgency.

The goal is to stimulate Puerto Rico's economy and cultural tourism to help it recover from Maria.
