BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards issued a statement today about the recent NFL players protest during the national anthem.
The governor made the following statement calling for unity during former Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand's radio show saying:
Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and Attorney General Jeff Landry issued their own separate statements blasting the Saints for the organization to allow several players to kneel during the national anthem in Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, N.C.
