ST. JAMES PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to inappropriately touching a young girl back in 2014.
According to the 23rd Judicial District Court, back on April 24, Jermaine White, 30, of Convent, pleaded guilty to indecent behavior with a juvenile. The incident occurred back in October of 2014 when St. James Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a home in Convent in reference to a report of a man inappropriately touching a 10-year-old girl.
The girl was able to identify White because she knew him from around the neighborhood. White was then arrested and booked into the St. James Parish Detention Center.
White, who has several prior convictions, was also convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile back in 2009. He received a 5-year sentence for this crime.
After entering a guilty plea, White was then sentenced on September 5 to 15 years in prison with credit for time served. Two years of this sentence are to be served without the benefit of probation or parole, or suspension of sentence.
