BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU head football coach Ed Orgeron met with the media, as the Tigers continue their second week of fall camp.
During the press conference, Orgeron gave updates on several key players and positions.
Orgeron said dual-threat quarterback Lowell Narcisse is getting more comfortable and the offensive staff have been putting in plays that fit his style better. While running back Clyde Edwards Hellaire is being held out a couple of days after hard hit. When Hellaire is healthy, Orgeron says, they are going to give him a shot on special teams. He also said Jontre Kirkland is going to be a special player.
Kickers Connor Culp and Jack Gonsoulin will be sharing the field goal kicking duties. "We went 10-for-10 the other day," Orgeron said.
When speaking about the walk-on offensive linemen, who he may not know entirely by name, Orgeron said, "I know them by their nicknames. Pork Chop, Meatball."
LSU will have another team scrimmage this Saturday, with the season opener against BYU in Houston quickly approaching September 2nd. The Tigers checked in at #13 in Sports Illustrated's preseason Top 25 Wednesday.
