EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - On Friday, April 28, Congressman Cedric Richmond announced the availability of just over $1.4 million in federal funding to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office.
That federal money will go towards replacing vehicle and other equipment damaged during the August 2016 flooding.
"I am pleased to announce the availability of additional funds to address some of the immediate needs of the sheriff's office. While more resources are necessary, this grant is welcome help. I have requested additional resources from Congress and the administration, so that the office can be made whole, and that it is fully equipped to serve the people of Baton Rouge. I will continue to work with my federal partners to secure the additional funding and hold them to their commitment to support our recovery," said Richmond.
The award provides $1,456,465.74 to EBRSO to replace vehicles, deputy equipment, firearms, and uniforms that were damaged beyond repair in the flooding.
