DENHAM SPRINGS, LA - Dutch Physical Therapy will host the second seminar of the Helping You Help Yourself series that focuses on the people of Denham Springs and their struggles after the 2016 August Flood.
Featured speakers are Leann Evans, Administrative Compliance Director, and Brad Hassert, State Compliance Director with the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors.
Leann Evans and Brad Hassert will discuss various issues the community of Denham Springs has faced with contractor scams and offer suggestions on how to avoid fraud in the future. Most importantly this serves as a time for individuals to have their questions answered. The speakers of the seminars to follow are the: Louisiana Department of Insurance, and Livingston Parish President, Layton Ricks.
Dutch Physical Therapy was one of the many businesses damaged by the flood this past August. As the community of Denham Springs continues to rebuild, Dutch PT hopes to bring individuals of the community together in a way that promotes discussion and allows people to ask the questions that have been on their mind since the flood.
"We've had quite a bit of homeowners who were desperate to get back into their homes, and so they signed contracts without fully reading those contracts. And you know, once they realized what they signed, at some point, it becomes a civil matter and we can only do so much," said Evans, administrative compliance director for the Louisiana State Licensing Board of Contractors.
In the past, the Helping You Help Yourself seminars were focused on health issues such as: how to treat back/shoulder/neck pain, how to prevent tennis elbow, healthy weight loss tips, confronting blood pressure etc. However, due to the August flood Dutch PT thought it would be a good idea to focus on something different and create a greater benefit for the community of Denham Springs.
The seminar will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Dutch Physical Therapy's Denham Springs clinic, located at 30789 La Hwy 16 D-2, Denham Springs. The event is free to attend but space is limited, please reserve a seat by registering at www.dutchpt.com/rsvp.
