Bill to allow teens who committed murder chance at parole passes La. Senate

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - State senators agreed to give teens convicted of murder a chance at parole after serving 25 years of a life sentence.

The idea was born after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down automatic life behind bars without parole for teenagers. The proposal still needs to make it through the House, where it faces stiff opposition from some lawmakers and district attorneys.
