BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The attempt to ban paddling in some schools barely moved forward at the Capitol Wednesday.
Representative Barbara Norton says paddling in schools is abuse that creates violent children. Others say it should be left to the parents. The proposed ban still faces plenty of discussion.
Also at the capitol, lawmakers are pushing back on a proposal to restore voting rights for more than 70,000 ex-felons. On Wednesday, a house committee voted 'no' and delayed action on another similar bill. One legislator says he can't support a bill that doesn't first take into account someone's criminal past.
