BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A firefighter was injured battling one of two fires that occurred in the early morning hours Saturday.
Baton Rouge Fire Department says that the injured firefighter was released from the hospital with minor injuries. No details on the cause of the injuries were released.
The firefighter, who has not been identified, was injured at an apartment fire on Warfield near Belaire High School. The apartment was empty and the fire did not spread to other units, according to officials.
The second fire occurred on Virginia St. near I-10. Crews arrived on scene to find the empty home engulfed in flames. According to BRFD, the home was a total loss.
Both fires are under investigation for suspected arson. No information on possible suspects has been released.
