Louisiana International Film Festival takes over Perkins Rowe

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Its logo is two shrimp boots on a podium. The Louisiana International Film Festival is getting underway on April 20.

The festival is taking over Perkins Rowe with 40 film directors from all over the world converging and running films for the audience.

This weekend, the festival offers mentoring opportunities for those interested in being a film maker at classes held at Perkins Rowe.

Actress Renee Zellweger will also be in attendance.

"Renee Zellweger is such a special person because she was discovered by Dan Ireland who started our film festival and she has decided to come here and give out The Dan Ireland Award.  We couldn't be more honored to have Renee bless our community," Jency Griffin Hogan, Liaison Director for Louisiana International Film Festival, said.

Hogan says Zellweger will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, to present the Dan Ireland Award.

Louisiana International Film Festival will be held from April 20 – 23 at the Cinemark Theater in Perkins Rowe.
