BELLE ROSE, LA (WAFB) - A man wanted for a bank robbery in New York and other crimes was caught in Assumption Parish.
The Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office reported Joel Zsebehazy, 33, was arrested on a fugitive arrest warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and two warrants out of Batavia, NY, charging him with third-degree robbery and third degree grand larceny.
Investigators said his last known address was LA 1 in Napoleonville. They added he was arrested Tuesday afternoon at a home near Belle Rose where he was reportedly working as a handyman.
Zsebehazy is accused of getting away with about $10,000 from a bank robbery in New York in December. According to reports, he was on parole at the time stemming from a previous bank robbery.
Authorities said New York officials have started the process of extraditing Zsebehazy.
According to officials, his rap sheet is 33 pages long. It reportedly includes arrests on charges of assault, drug possession and distribution, robbery and more.
