Stolen property and narcotics investigation ends in 20 arrests

A multi-agency investigation has ended in the arrest of 20 individuals. These arrests came with the seizure of a large quantity of illegal narcotics, several firearms, and stolen property.

On April 11, two search warrants were conducted at approximately 3 p.m. on houses located on Herman Johnson Ln. in reference to stolen property and illegal narcotics. Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Office states that the houses have plagued the community for over a decade and have been the subject of numerous narcotics and stolen property investigations. In some cases, people have been known to trade stolen property for narcotics.

During the execution of the warrants, numerous people began to arrive with money in hand. The majority of the people arriving stated that they were planning to purchase illicit narcotics ranging from crack cocaine and marijuana to methamphetamine. At least two people admitted to trading prescription medication, namely Suboxone, for crack cocaine.

The property owner, Leroy Johnson Sr., admitted to trading and purchasing items that he knew to be stolen to support various narcotics addictions.

Detectives seized quantities of suspected marijuana, suspected crack cocaine, suspected methamphetamine, and assorted prescription medication. Detectives also seized items such as several cases of beer, bottles of liquor, firearms, and power tools that Johnson admitted to receiving in exchange for drugs. Detectives also located a stolen Warn 15,000 pound winch which was reported stolen from Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives arrested the following individuals:

  • Edwin Breeland Jr., 66, of Ponchatoula, was charged with possession of CDS II and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Andrew Harris, 20, of Independence, was charged with possession of CDS I.
  • Dedrick Jackson, 23, of Albany, was charged with two failure to appear warrants through the 21st JDC.
  • Dedric Johnson, 42, of Tickfaw, was charged with possession of a legend drug and an outstanding warrant.
  • Leroy Clyde Johnson Sr., 66, of Tickfaw, was charged with two counts of possession with the intent to distribute CDS II, possession with the intent to distribute CDS I, possession of firearm while in possession of CDS, and possession of stolen property.
  • Melissa Lee, 49, of Hammond, was charged with possession of CDS II,  possession of drug paraphernalia, and three outstanding warrants.
  • Sheila Malbrough, 23, of Hammond, was charged with possession of CDS I.
  • Raelonn Maryland, 25, of Hammond, was charged with two outstanding warrants related to simple battery and aggravated battery.
  • Christopher McGee, 28, of Tickfaw, was charged with possession of CDS I and an outstanding warrant.
  • Jeff Clayton McKinney, 32, of Hammond, was charged with possession of CDS II, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm while in possession of CDS, and convicted felon in possession of a firearm. A detainer was placed on McKinney by Louisiana State Probation and Parole due to him currently being on probation.
  • Sheila Methvin, 50, of Springfield, was charged with possession of CDS II and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Alvin Patrick, 51, of Hammond, was charged with possession of CDS II and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Randy Penalber, 31, of Springfield, was charged with possession of CDS II and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Casey Perkins, 29, of Springfield, was charged with possession of CDS II and possession of drug paraphernalia.  
  • Dedrick Phelps, 38, of Tickfaw, was charged with possession of CDS I and three outstanding warrants.
  • Antonio Richardson, 33, of Tickfaw, was charged with possession of CDS II and an outstanding warrant.
  • Kerrie Schexnaider, 50, of Tickfaw, was charged with possession of CDS II and possession of drug paraphernalia.  
  • Christopher Sykes, 18, of Hammond, was charged with possession of CDS I.
  • Jennifer Lynn Thompson, 33, of Tickfaw, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute CDS I, possession of CDS II, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two outstanding warrants.
  • Dennis Trapp, 56, of Albany, was charged with possession of CDS II and possession of drug paraphernalia.
