It didn't take long for new LSU head coach Will Wade to add his first signee to the 2017 Tiger basketball team.
Victory Rock Prep (FL) standout Mayan Kiir has signed his national letter-of-intent papers with the Tigers.
“We are happy to have Mayan Kiir as an LSU Tiger,” Coach Wade said in an LSU release. “He has tremendous upside after a high school and AAU career in which he was extremely well-coached in a system that is similar to what we will have here at LSU. He’s got good range. He’s tremendous on the offensive and defensive boards. He’s terrific defensively and we look forward to him joining our team for the coming season.”
The 6'10 power forward averaged 13.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 blocks a game at Victory Rock. He shot 54.6 percent from the field and 71.1 percent from the free throw line.
The four-star forward is ranked No. 95 in ESPN's Top 100 high school recruits.
Kiir picked LSU over VCU, Louisville, Illinois and North Carolina State.
Kiir's signing comes the same week LSU added former Wichita State assistant coach Greg Heiar to the staff.
