ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - The results of an assessment of the Ascension Parish government's compensation structure are set to be released Tuesday evening.
This assessment was initiated in 2016 by Parish President Kenny Matassa in order to learn what is working well within the parish government and to determine what changes may create a more businesslike climate and attract quality employees.
The survey covers many factors, including salary structures, benefits, promotion policies, and structural changes made under the Matassa administration. This is the first such survey commissioned by the parish since 2009.
"Retaining talent is vital to provide good services to our citizens. Looking to the future, we want to recruit a workforce that increasingly looks for competitive salaries based upon market value, portable benefits, and opportunities for advancement. I believe this survey will give us the tools we need to bring that talent here to parish government," said Matassa.
The results of the survey will be presented to the parish council during the monthly finance meeting on April 11 at 6 p.m. at the Gonzales Courthouse. SSA Consultants, an organizational development and management consulting firm based out of Baton Rouge, which was hired for this compensation study, will present its findings and recommendations at the meeting.
