Police: Fight between exes interrupts Easter egg hunt, both arrested

THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) - Police said a fight between a man and woman interrupted an Easter egg hunt for kids at a park Sunday afternoon.

The Thibodaux Police Department reported Florence Robinson, 25, and Junius Boyd Jr., 33, both of Thibodaux, were arrested on battery charges.

Police Chief Bryan Zerangue said the incident started with Robinson showing up to the party at Peltier Park around 5 p.m. with a shovel handle.

He added his officers learned the two had just broken up earlier in the day.

According to reports, witnesses told police Robinson confronted Boyd with the shovel handle as he was trying to leave in his vehicle and that she shattered the back windshield with the piece of wood as he was driving off.

Investigators said Robinson then hit Boyd on the arm with the handle when he got out of the vehicle, but Boyd was allegedly able to take the shovel handle away from Robinson and started hitting her in the head with it.

Robinson was taken to the hospital and was arrested several hours later after being released.

Both Robinson and Boyd were booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on charges of aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon. Robinson is also charged with simple criminal damage to property and disturbing the peace.

They are both awaiting bond.
