HOLDEN, LA (WAFB) -

A driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Livingston Parish.

Louisiana State Police identified the victim as Christopher Lasseigne, 34, of Napoleonville.

Troopers reported the crash happened on I-12 West at LA 441 in Holden around 8 p.m.

Senior Tpr. Bryan Lee said the investigation so far shows Lasseigne was driving fast on I-12 in a 2006 Nissan Titan when he tried to exit at Holden, but lost control of the truck.

According to Lee, the pickup flipped and Lasseigne was not wearing a seat belt. Lee added Lasseigne was thrown out of the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office.

Authorities said it is unknown if impairment was a factor in the crash, but as with all deadly crashes on Louisiana highways, a sample of blood was taken and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

The investigation is ongoing.
