BILOXI, MS (WAFB) - Three people from Baton Rouge were arrested in connection with an attack on a store worker and police officer at a Mississippi mall on Sunday.
The Biloxi Police Department reported Ivy Givens, 19, and two 17-year-olds face assault charges in the incident. The names of the teens were not released because they are considered juveniles under Mississippi law.
According to investigators, there was a large spring break crowd at Edgewater Mall in Biloxi that started to get rowdy.
Reports indicate a worker at the Dillard's store in the mall asked the crowd to leave the store and that's when he was attacked by five people. They added when the officer who responded to the crowd complaint tried to help the store employee, he was also attacked.
Officials said the store worker and the officer suffered minor injuries in the attack.
Police reported Givens and two other men were charged with simple assault on a law enforcement officer and simple assault on the security officer.
One of the Baton Rouge teens was arrested on those same charges, while the other is only charged with simple assault on a law enforcement officer.
The incident remains under investigation.
